Going once, going twice... sold!

Probably the biggest of many surprises for a first-time auction patron is the speed at which the auctioneer and his staff of item handlers and bid spotters work.

One of the items on your bucket list should be to attend an auction; be bold and bid on something. You just might get lucky and have the winning bid.  Regardless, I'm sure you will find it entertaining.  As a matter of fact, for my husband and me, it has been such an adrenalin rush that we have started attending an auction per week. I am astounded at the things I can find to update and resell at my booth at the antique/consignment shop. I have enough to keep me busy for quite a while to come.  I wanted to show you some items I purchased last evening that I have already worked on...

I found a box with several boring brown document frames that I thought might have some potential...

Here they are with a couple of coats of Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint...

Here they are already painted with a few photos from Graphics Fairy. I'm tickled with how they turned out.

Here is another one of the finished frames and some other items.

This is a mirror that we purchased a couple of weeks ago to refinish.  I had no idea at the time it weighed 40 pounds!

Here's the finished product.  It's already at the shop.

I highly recommend finding an auction house in your area for a great evening's fun and a real treasure hunt.

  1. Wow Claudia! Your frames and mirror look so lovely! Love the color choices! I haven't tried chalk paint, yet, but when I do, I will be mixing some of my own!! We'll see how that goes!
    Nice to meet you!
    Have a great day!
