Finally Finished

No... I'm not finished decorating the house for Christmas, but I did want to take a minute to show you a few things I have finished to put in my Etsy store.  The problem is that some of the items listed I really would rather keep for myself instead.  I use to have to shop for Christmas presents twice because I kept the first round of purchases!  Why would I buy something for someone if I didn't like it? Ha!

I have had more fun altering these bottles.  I wouldn't mind keeping this one.

This is a sweet vintage bottle.

Thanks to the Graphics Fairy for all the wonderful labels.  They are so fun to use.

Wouldn't these angel wings look cute on a package or a Christmas tree?

I had lots of fun designing this.  It is a take off of a design from Carol at The Polka Dot Closet.  I thought this would be fun to dress up a craft room or sewing room.

I hope you enjoyed my show and tell. More later....

Just do it!

Every year I seem to go through the same emotions.  Because of having a business where I sell my work at various art shows, and probably more than 50% of my items are Christmas items, I have been working on Christmas since June.  It is really sometimes hard to get that excited about dragging out another batch of Christmas decorations in December, especially when the house is in such chaos with art show stuff still sitting around.

I whine and complain about having to put up the Christmas tree and even catch myself thinking that I won't even put up one.  Well, I know full well that I couldn't stand not to put up a tree and I actually used to put up 4 trees when I had a much bigger house!  Anyway my husband graciously puts up the tree one more time and I begin to decorate.

That's when it starts... the excitement of seeing treasured ornaments that were packed away so carefully the year before, and a plan begins to take shape.  My plan took a little bit different turn this year as I decided to change the color of my decorations.  I normally put Santa ornaments and carousel horses on (I know it's a strange combination but it works) but this year I have decided to do some different things.  My new favorite color is aqua/turquoise and silver (with a touch of red) so that's what I have decided to do and I wanted to share some photos with you...

Did I mention bubble lights?  I absolutely love the clear bubble lights and the clear ones are hard to find.

This is a Santa card I made for an art show and decided to keep one for me!

Another ornament I decided to keep :)

And another :)  I just love the Old World Santa images.

This is a carousel horse I painted several years ago.

Here is where the carousel horses and the Santa s make the connection.  It makes sense when you could see the tree all together.

Here is the one lonely little porcelain ornament I painted a couple of years ago.  I had really good intentions of painting several. :(  Sorry about the glare!

This is the tree without lights.

And this is the tree with lights.

Oh, but wait.... something new this year!

TINSEL !!!!!!!!

In for a penny, in for a pound.  Isn't that what they say?

I'm not really a tinsel kind of girl but I just couldn't help it.  It just goes with the theme of the tree.  I found some of the old style silver tinsel at an antique shop and I had to have it.  This picture just doesn't do the tree justice but I hope you have enjoyed my decorating.

I'm in the mood now!

More treasures uncovered...

As I continue pulling out boxes to decorate the house for Christmas, I continue to find more "treasures" from by-gone years.  I purposefully forget that I have certain treasures (as I get older it's not that hard to forget) and am entertained anew each year.  By all of this rambling I mean I have found some more vintage Christmas cards that I'd like to share with you. I hope you can enjoy them with me and can find a use for these wonderful images.

This is a beautiful vintage card

This one did not copy as well as I had hoped.  The bell is actually gold foil.  You'll have to use your imagination.

 Isn't this a great face?!

I love soft Courier & Ives-type winter scenes.

These next 4 cards are not vintage aged but are made to look like old ones.  Several years ago I started to collect snowmen figures and images and thought these were particularly cute.

I hope you enjoyed looking at some of my collection.  Be sure to click on the images and make them as large as possible when you copy the image.

Old Treasures

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year.  Ours was kind of quiet which wasn't such a bad thing.

Now the time has come to pull out all the Christmas decorations.  I love to collect Santa images and thought I might share with you some vintage cards I have received over the years. I hope you can make use of these images in a project or two.

Happy decorating!

No Santa image here but I thought you might like these adorable choirboys.
What a sweet old face.

This one is a little more modern version
This card is one of my favorites.  I love his expression.  What you can't see from this photo is that he has a little bit of glitter in his beard.  It really makes him special.

I hope to be able to bring more images to you as I dig further into my stash of Christmas treasures.

Have a great day!

The countdown begins...

In the closing days before the "official" kickoff of the Christmas season (I realize stores started their Christmas season in August!) I just wanted to take a moment to wish you and yours a most special Thanksgiving day.  Sometimes in the anxiety of trying to get prepared for a holiday event I have to stop and reflect on the blessings in my life and that helps give me an "attitude adjustment".

I pray especially for peace in our country and peace in your home dear friends.  Have a wonderful day.

Anxiety or Excitement?

The countdown has begun ... 7 days and counting.  I know, you are thinking the election isn't that far away.  Well, sorry, I wasn't thinking about the election this time,  I was thinking about the days until I do my first art show in nearly 13 years.  Have I done the right kinds of artwork, is it priced right, will anybody like my stuff?  Well, we'll see.  I've had a good time getting ready for it anyway.

If you are anywhere in southern Indiana on Saturday, November 10th, come to the Christian Academy of Indiana off Grant Line Road in New Albany, Indiana and visit this show.  I have not done this show before but it sounds like a great one.  The hours are 9:00 to 2:00 p.m.

The following Saturday will be the Male High School Winter Wonderland 2012.  This venue is located at Male High School at 4409 Preston Highway in Louisville, KY.  The hours will be 8:30 to 3:30 p.m.

I wanted to share with you a couple more photos and cards to add to your vintage collection.  Enjoy!

Is there anything prettier than a pink rose?

This would make a really cute greeting card.

This little one doesn't look all that happy about taking care of little brother!

Wooing in the moonlight....

Enjoy playing with these images.  Be sure to click on them to enlarge the size and then save in your inventory.

Have a great weekend!

Heritage

While trying to do some work in the studio today I came across some photos hidden away in a drawer (so I wouldn't loose them?).  I thought you might like to have a copy for yourself so I am posting them for you.  The odd thing is that  these folks are actually relatives of mine.  Yes, I am old enough to have parents and in-laws with their own cabinet cards.  You can't imagine how scary that is for me!

Anyway, if you can use these photos in your artwork I would love to see your finished product.  Please send me a note and show me what you can do!

Here is some artwork I have done using one of these photos and a frame from an old photo album.

I hope you have enjoyed a tour of my family album.  Now go be creative!

Have a blessed weekend!
